Farm History

Danielle and alicia guichon are 5th generation farmers

Coming from a long line of Farmers, our family still owns and operates Felix Farms in Delta, which originated in 1879, growing over 1,200 acres of vegetables and grain! Our roots run deep here in Ladner and we are passionately carrying on the family tradition. Our current Backroads location used to run under the name of ‘Deltaport Farms’, which was a farm stand that our family ran in the 1980s (see an original picture below of our Grandma Lorraine in the old Deltaport Farms!) However, as things got busier on the farm, our family made the decision to lease the stand out to others throughout the 1990s and was eventually closed for good and left empty for over 15 years. In 2014 Danielle and Alicia’s ideas for a new market came to fruition. The transformation photo below shows how hard work, creativity and a new vision bloomed into what Backroads Market is today.
